The Dean Rodney Singers is a musical and interactive extravaganza commissioned for Unlimited, a project celebrating disability, arts, culture and sport on an unprecedented scale as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Led by autistic artist Dean Rodney, the project aims to bring Dean’s fantasy world of mysterious creatures and superheroes who live in a parallel universe to life.
To do this he has been working with seventy-two band members made up of musicians, singers and dancers from seven countries across the world. The countries involved are Japan, China, South Africa, Germany, Brazil, Croatia and the UK. Featuring unique characters, superhero samurais and this global band of 72 musicians and dancers and combining cutting-edge digital techniques and web apps, the band has brought Dean’s vision to life with music and video.
The Dean Rodney Singers have created a series of artworks for the Bus-Tops canvas to be exhibited through September, celebrating the Paralympics and it’s diverse actors and participants.
